they'll bring you to what ever is closest that can service the problem... i.e. major pediatric traumas almost always got to Albany Med, because the other hospital won't be able to do anything with the kid once they get them.
But, yeah. If you ask and it is reasonable, they'll take you to a more distant hospital.
