Friday- My Birthday
So Friday was my Birthday. After work I ran home, grabbed a quick shower, then took the train down to Yonkers to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] marnen. We first went to an Indian Restaurant in Yonkers (Marnen might remember the name, but the ownership/name had changed since he was last there. And some of the changes were definitely for the better- apparently the previous owners had a thing for jazz. Which did not jive with typical Indian restaurant decor/dining ware.

The menus were printed on tablets of wood, and the tableware was steel where the ends looked like curled wrought iron. Not only did they have the typical copper exterior serving dishes, but these additional little buckets for serving heavy sauce dishes, and a small goblet for my kheer. The food was really good. We started with samosas and fish tikka, and then a paneer dish (not your typical saag/palak paneer) and a lamb korma with dried fruit. For breads we tried a corn meal roti and a naan with onion seeds (but we didn't see the seeds, but it did have onion bits and a destinctive onion tone to the flavor). For dessert I got kheer and Marnen got pistachio kulfi.

Then we headed down to NYC to a club. A specific club that's much more appropriate for my [livejournal.com profile] jaenelle_sadi journal.

Saturday- some productivity
Saturday we got up really late. I put in a load of laundry and then we went to a diner for brunch (I need to remember to buy Egg Beaters for the house). Then stopped over at Staples to see if they had a sample book for Gartner Do it Yourself Stationary kits. And they did. I brought home a couple of pieces of sample paper they had at the display- it looks like it might be a decent option when the time comes.

We got home, and Marnen looked online at scanner/printer/copier combos. He had one in mind, then when he was leaving for his gig he asked if I could go back to staples and pick up a HP PCS 1510 (basically, it was the last day of a rebate at Staples, but if I didn't get it Saturday I could get it Sunday at Office Depot for the same rebate amount). I went to Staples, mainly because I had signed up for the Staples Rewards program earlier that day and wanted to put the purchase towards that if I could get there in time (which I did).

I then headed home and set up the all-in-one; so Duaje has been replaced by Karla. I also put in for the rebate.

And then I played Puzzle Pirates. And Marnen stayed over in New Haven after his gig.

Sunday- even more productivity
Sunday morning I got up, put in more laundry, worked out at the gym, then went to go check out a shop. It's an adult store that I got a coupon off for my birthday, but the place was closed. I then went to stop off at Bonefish Grill, but it didn't open until 4. It was 2pm and I had only had some juice before working out. So I went over to Sushi Village by Vassar and got lunch. Then I went to the Stop N Shop for gas and groceries.

At home I put away groceries, switched laundry, and while I was in the basement I got out the camp stove and de-greaser (I'll need the stove for Roses). I then went outside and started the cleanup process (I thought I had cleaned it up before putting it away for the winter... but apparently not that well). I then went back into the house and did more dishes, found the air mattress (an important thing for Roses), then went back outside with a bucket of water to scrub down the camp stove. After that was cleaned up (and left outside to dry), I did some more laundry and cleaning.

At some point Marnen called, and we decided to fend for ourselves for dinner but to have desert together (there was half-fat Hagen Daas on sale at SNS and I had picked up some). When he got home I was working on washing a wool blanket (that we had gotten from Allen's house), in the bathtub. Big huge wool blanket, washer and dryer... I don't think so.

I also got the garbage out, the litter box cleaned up, another switch in laundry, and the blanket outside to dry, and worked with Marnen on making sure that Karla was set up properly (and seeing if I could access the OCR software that he could on his Mac) before crashing- and not falling asleep until sometime between 1 & 2 am. And had been in bed for some time trying to sleep.

I got up and got to work a little late, but I'm here. And the phones have been pretty much non-stop all morning.

And I just want to sleep.

But it is time for lunch.
