Last night after work I went to the Warwick Stronghold (which is a quicker thing to say than
nounsandverbs,
11th_letter,
ioldanach,
purpura, and the kid's house, and I know a few people see the place as a kind of stronghold for their hearts, friendship, and honor... or am I wrong?).
On my way there, I stopped off to pick up a birthday present for
ioldanach, which took a while to find, even in Woodbury Commons. I won't say what it is, because his birthday isn't until Saturday.
nounsandverbs made dinner... including some incredibly yummy, delicious, delectable, scrumptious, tasty... (you get the idea) mashed potatoes. He also made steak (with a mayo-mustard plus sauce) and salad. I found out that Matt and I have the same taste in steak... so rare it's practically mooing. I think that steak should have a brief introduction to fire (as a SCAdian in Troy/Anglespur put it- "Bessie, this is fire. Fire, this is Bessie. That's all you need.").
This reminds me, at some point I need to try steak tartar.
It was also interesting and fun to be part of a normal family dinner where there were 9 individuals at the table (including 3 kids and an infant).
During desert, I had an interesting time explaining to Celia why I only wanted a kid's portion of ice cream, a conversation that also engaged
11th_letter and
purpura. (Although a note to self- next time I should get a half kid's portion so it's only 1 scoop of ice cream.) It boiled down to me saying that I had gotten *too* big and I wanted to get smaller (which seems to have boggled her mind a bit, because as a kid she just wants to get bigger). And while people are different sizes, adults stop growing at some point. But they can gain more weight even after their body has stopped growing, and I am working on losing that extra weight. This means that I take kid’s side portions of ice cream and not Jeff sized portions of ice cream.
After desert, Katie put in
Love Actually but I only saw part of it. The plan was for me to stay over, but I needed to turn in a little earlier than usual to ensure that I'd be up in time for my longer commute to work.
And I got here a half hour early this morning.
