My Mom doesn't know what to do and neither do I.

For one, Mom noticed a rash on Tuesday and it took until Wednesday for them to look at it, when my mom mentioned it to the infection dr. while he was there.

He's not running a fever, but he's red and hot to touch.

They're still saying that he's not sick enough to be upstairs in the regular hopsital and not dangerous enough to be in the psych ward. Yet they're keeping someone with him 24/7. They took the IV out, and since he no longer has the IV they want to send him back downstairs.

Albany Med and Samaritan both have to have an ombudsman type...someone who does familymember/hospital staff relations...I would suggest speaking to that person at Samaritan. If that person does not address your concerns, I would suggest finding a neuro/doc whose home hospital is AMC, and have him/her give you a second opinion. What about Ed's regular M.D. that he sees for snotty noses and other general stuff? Can this person assist you with that at all? Generally, even if this person does not manage the case, he/she should be allowed same say in the disposition of his/her patient.

He doesn't have a regular MD. Since he didn't have insurance for a while, or $ in the meantime, he hasn't been going to anyone. And if he had a cold, he just stuck it out.

Apparently, Samaritan has a group of doctors for people without a regular one.
