I gained 4.4 lbs.

Part of it was definitely the result of bad eating. Between PhilCon (where I did not do well on eating) and having the holiday party for work were I didn't eat well... I'm not surprised.

Also, with going to the gym more and more seriously strength training isn't helping in a way. Until I'm used to it/my body adjusts I might slim down but since muscle is denser than fat the numbers may not go down or do other funky things.

But gods, having an increase like that is a bit depressing.

Start weight 272.8 Current 218.0 Net change -54.8
Start 6/9/04, 10% on 9/15/04 next goal - the next 10 lbs
Descending the decades: 270-6/23/04, 260-7/8, 250-8/15, 240-10/13, 230-4/13/05, 220-8/3

Look at it this way: Yes, muscle is denser, but, there is still less of you for doing the strength training.

thanks.... it was just a number shock, which I know I shouldn't let it shock me like that...

At a certain point, it may benefit you to switch over to, or at least start using the Body Mass Index, or... eh, there's another index that is simliar to the BMI, has become fairly popular recently as more reliable than the BMI, but I can't remember its name right now. Anyway, possibly using those instead of, or in addition to, weight, to track your progress

I'm still obese (sp?) in BMI. I need to hit 180-185ish to get to overweight.

I think it was more that I hated the #, which isn't something I should be focusing on in the first place. I've handled smaller gains without an issue, but this 4.4 kicked me harder than I figured it would.

Then again, I know the contributing factors, so I should be able to turn it around.
