Happy Thanksgiving! Here's what I did last night.

Rogue (Crüxshadows) and Millie NYC 2008 Rogue (Crüxshadows) and Millie NYC 2008
After the NYC show on 11/26/08 at the Pyramid Club in NYC (101 Ave A.) Yes, I wore white. I'm a rebel. I also left for NYC from work.

(because of Marnen's cousin getting married the last weekend), I should have the time/money to hit this- blacksun festival. It's in New Haven, which is where Sally (Bernie's girlfriend, Bernie being Marnen's dad) lives, so we'd probably have free crash space too!

And The Cruxshadows are playing. *bounce*

It is better if it is not your icon picture either. A little effort here, people. :)

I actually decided to post a few links, to pics I've not posted before:

this was posted to the fansofthecruxshadows yahoo group:

I would be surprised if the band ever goes back to the Albion, or NYC in future tours due to what just happened there. For those that don't know. After the show at the Albion, Jessica went to the bar to get a drink, and when she wasn't looking, someone slipped a Rufinol ("Ruffy") into her drink. Luckily, they found Jess in time to take her to the hospital before anything could happen to her, though she was quite sick from it. As a result, they almost cancelled the Ithaca show at the Haunt, but decided to go on with the show anyways, but without Jessica. They were late as it was and when Rogue informed us of why, we were all ready to go down to NYC to try to find the bastard that did this to Jess. Let us all pray that Jess gets well soon, and that the person responsible gets what's coming to him.

Kevin

I hope Jessica (one of the backup singers/dancers) gets gell soon, and that no one else got the same nasty surprise that she did.

I also hope that bastard gets what's coming to him too.

one of the songs that I'm loving at this point... of course it's from the Cruxshadows...
(and not posted on their lyics site, possibly because it looks like it was first released on the DVD

Also, seeing some of the DVD and remembering the concerts... I want to find out what flashlights they use...

After some transportation trouble (like my wallet falling out of my purse in Marnen's car and having to walk over a mile and into the Bronx to get to the college that he had a rehearsal at to get it, then taking the bus to get to the subway- instead of just taking the Metro North from Yonkers like orginally planned)... I went and saw MirrorMask down at the Sunshine theater on E. Houston..

Oh my goddess, it's an incredible movie. I am *so* buying it when it comes out on DVD.

I then had dinner in Chinatown at this little (and cheap) Vietnamese place on Mulberry... hmmmm chicken with scallions and ginger (and the ginger was in long julliened strips...). Then I stopped off where Marnen was playing his contra gig (on the corner of 7th and W. 13th) and touched base then got dressed (as a gothy cheerleader, with red and black leather floggers as my pom-poms) for the Cruxshadows concert.

After waiting forever outside of the club (I got there about 45 minutes before the doors were supposed to open, then they were a half hour-ish late in opening them. I got a chance to speak to the other people there around me. We were also outside of a homeless women's shelter, and a lot came out for smoke breaks and kept asking why were there and dressed up like we were.

The concert was cool. I actually got a chance to hear ego likeness, and they're pretty good. The club has multiple rooms and levels, but the actual performance area was really slow. Marnen got there in time to see the Cruxshadows start. I think it was the same set list as Albany, with a little mixed up (the final encore was Marylin, My Bitterness). I got pulled up on stage again, and ended up with a few hugs from Rogue after the concert (like getting off the stage, when he was passing by, and when I got the dvd box signed). I got a the DVD box that they came out iwth (Shadowbox). I'm listening to the audio disk that comes with it now

Pictures to follow.

I got home this morning (after crashing with a couple of SCAdians in the E. 15th street/Styuvesant Park area- one of the fencers was having a birthday party and they had an extra crash space, something that had been worked out as a possiblity after fencing practice on Wednesday).

Now I'm trying to stay awake a little longer so I don't end up falling asleep and waking up at 4 am and not being able to go back to sleep.

Ok, So Saturday I'm going down to NYC to do two things... see MirrorMask during the day and go to see The Crüxshadows in concert at the http://www.albionnyc.com/home.html. [livejournal.com profile] marnen will be meeting me for the concert...

Now here's my problem- Marnen is then going to Ridgewood, NJ because he has a dance to play on Sunday. Normally I'd go with him, but I need to come back home because on Sunday there's a Penny Social for the Rebekah's Lodge that I was made the the president (even though we use another title) of last week.

Now, the last train home leaves Grand Central at 1:50am, which means that I would have to leave as soon as the music ends and hope that I still make the train (then again, the concert is at 251 West 30th Street, and Grand Central is at 42nd and Park... for the NYC residents, or just those who have a lot of late night experience in this location, how much time would we need (driving) for Marnen to drop me off at 1:30 am?

The next train after that isn't until 6:20 am.

There are other possibilities, up to and including driving down to NYC and back myself (which I want to avoid because I'm tired from a lot of overtime at work and don't want to get into an accident or have to pull over to sleep anyway), or driving to Ridgewood, leaving the car there and taking the bus/train to NYC, coming to Ridgewood after the concert with Marnen then driving back. I'm just wondering if there are options that don't require me to drive.

He's got a gig in NYC the same night, but the Cruxshadows aren't going on stage until midnight..

He has a dance gig about 15 blocks south of the venue, but the doors don't open until 10pm and the Cruxshadows don't start playing until midnight (so he might miss some or most of the Ego Likeness portion). It's at Albion . And since it's a dance gig (and he has a English dance the next day in NJ, he might even have his violin on him...

When you see this post a poem in your journal :

(and I'll choose another one that the Crüxshadows set to music/background)

ANNABELLE LEE

Author: Edgar Allan Poe

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love -
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulcher
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me
Yes! that was the reason
(as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we
Of many far wiser than we
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,
In the sepulcher there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Ok... so I've been bouncing around about the Cruxshadows concert, and the book Ghost. And I've joined a discussion list and a forum for Cruxshadows...

and of course I mentioned the book.

I just got an email from the author. He's cool with the fact that [livejournal.com profile] chickipu_no_oni and I got the books in advance. And he's right now getting ready to go to the CXS concert in Nashville tonight.

Oh, PSA about Ghost. It's a bit graphic in terms of sex and violence, and kinked in terms of sex.

Warning, these aren't cooked... so some of them are really dark

Good Gods, I looked good.... even after a 2+ hr concert and stuff.

At least, for those who appreciate someone dressed in Goth gear...

Thanks to the overtime, I was able to afford to go up to Albany this past weekend and finally see the http://www.cruxshadows.com/ in concert at Valentine's. [livejournal.com profile] marnen couldn't make it because he had a gig in Staten Island on Saturday, then a English Country dance in Ridgewood on Sunday.

Friday night- Garcias and Firefly )

Saturday early afternoon- Rebekahs with Mom )

Later Saturday Afternoon- Finding a Ghost )

Saturday Early Evening- picking up Katie and getting fencing stuff )

Saturday Evening- Getting ready for the concert, aka Who's that? )

Saturday Night- The Concert itself )

Saturday Night- after the concert, book signing and pictures )

Sunday- Getting home, finishing Ghost )

And now that I've finished gushing, I'm about to run to the store to get food to make tonight- tofu with peanut sauce over veggies.

Pictures to follow.
