10 days, period. No optional holidays either. My bosses aren't happy about it either. So we have to work something out, but Pennsic might be partially unpaid.

Or you need to restrict the # of days you go.

I hate to say it, but a roof over your head and food in your belly *is* more important than Pennsic.

I gotta agree with this...

I'm in the process of getting a job at pennsic (see below). Actually, it's something I was looking at even before I knew for certian the # of days I had, or didn't have.

Also, I need to find out what my bosses can do for me.

*nod*
but I also have a plan to get a job at pennsic to help defray the cost of going. I'm waiting on a couple of people I contacted.

Bear in mind in planning this that the merchants are not open for the full 2 weeks.

I'm only going 1 week.

Getting a job at pennsic has several side effects. First, it adds a lot of stress, regardless of what you're doing, to what is supposed to be a vacation. Second, it doesn't pay much, so it might defray the costs but won't make pennsic free. And third, you're almost certainly making more at work than you are at pennsic. Every unpaid day you take makes that much less for rent, food, gas, etc, which no job at pennsic will recoup. So sit down and carefully go through a budget for that month with a fine toothed comb.

Plus, you don't know what time you'll need to take for your brother. Another of the things more important than pennsic is being there for family.

Make your decisions carefully, and be pragmatic. There's always next year, and even a long weekend at pennsic can serve wonders.

I would think she knows

I would think she knows all that you are stating. Some people just need what Pennsic gives them an escape. I would think you would know and understand that or am just someone that is not longer grounded in reality

Even the best people sometimes need the obvious pointed out. Remember Evil Overlord Rule #12: One of my advisors will be an average five-year-old child. Any flaws in my plan that he is able to spot will be corrected before implementation.

I wasn't thinking of all the angles, for which I thank those who pointed them out to me.

I worked for Rosamund last year at Pennsic, so the Pennsic job wasn't something that intimidated me. It's the less $ for rent and other important things that I wasn't thinking of like I should have.

fuck it all
