10 days, period. No optional holidays either. My bosses aren't happy about it either. So we have to work something out, but Pennsic might be partially unpaid.

To sum up - Find out the least amount of days you can go, use the weekends wisely, look into shared travel, send tent ahead of you, pack lightly, and manage food $$ so that you don't have to cook, keep laundry $$ aside and in quarter form, budget all expenses ahead of time including shopping money.

I think you can do this. I have done it, it is possible. Just look for your priorities in what you want to do this war. Everyone understand when you can't do a lot due to life. Now we work on planning around life.
write it all down. Keeping it in your head makes for disorganization. You can do this, just keep at it!

first I have to find out how many days I have. Everyone I know going has their plans set up- and they are full week deals. I'll probably end up on a food plan somehow and I usually arrange it so that I have enough to wear until I get home. As for spending, I've done Pennsic on $150 including the non-member site fee before, so I can always go cheap on the spending $.

I think right now I'm just getting rubbed raw by the idea that my only summer vacation might be the 4 days I spent at Ed's bedside

Well, let's put it aside. Don't think about that , but think about your other options. Ok - so everyone you know is going ahead the week, then is their anyone who can take your tent? see? there is always a way. Really. Just don't focus on the bad, or that is all you will see. focus on what you can do.
